What to know about Polygon
Gas is paid in POL
Senders pay fees in POL (formerly MATIC). Native POL transfers are not detected yet; ERC-20 tokens are.
Two kinds of USDC
Polygon has both the older PoS-bridged USDC and native USDC issued by Circle. They are different contracts. Check the contract address on the token page before you share a deposit address.
Push, not polling
Polygon blocks arrive every second or two, and short reorgs have historically been more common than on Ethereum. A home-grown poller has to re-check recent blocks and undo credits when they change. Chainhook waits 64 blocks first, so an event you receive is already settled.
