Terms of service

The agreement for using Chainhook, paying for your plan, and receiving webhooks.

Last updated October 13, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Chainhook ("we" or "us") for the Chainhook website, dashboard, API, and webhook service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these terms, our Privacy policy, and our Refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. If you accept these terms on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you can bind it, and "you" means that organization.

2. What Chainhook does

Chainhook watches public blockchain networks for transfers involving the addresses you choose. When a matching transfer confirms, we send its details to your endpoint as a signed HTTPS request. The Service also includes a dashboard, a delivery log, and a REST API.

Chainhook only reads public blockchain data. We never hold, move, or control digital assets or private keys, and we don't offer custody, exchange, trading, payment, or investment services.

In these terms:

  • A webhook is a rule you create to watch an address on a network.
  • An endpoint is the URL that receives your deliveries.
  • A detection is one transfer matched by one of your webhooks. It's the unit your plan's allowance is measured in.
  • An active webhook is a webhook that is neither paused nor suspended.
  • A delivery is our attempt to send a detection to your endpoint, including automatic retries.
  • A replay is a delivery you send again from the dashboard or the API.

The networks, tokens, and features we support can change over time.

3. Your account

Give us accurate account details and keep them up to date. You need a verified email address to use the Service.

Keep your password, passkeys, recovery codes, API keys, and webhook secrets safe. You're responsible for everything done through your account and its API keys. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us right away at [email protected].

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

  • break any law or sanctions, or support fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, or theft
  • track, stalk, or harass people, or monitor addresses in a way that breaks privacy laws
  • send deliveries to systems you don't own or aren't authorized to use, or attack or overload any system
  • probe or test the security of the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows
  • get around usage limits or billing, including by opening extra accounts to get more trial detections
  • resell or share access to the Service without our written permission

Your plan's limits are shown on the Billing page, and the API rate limit is in the API docs. We may suspend webhooks or accounts that break these rules.

5. Plans and detections

Chainhook offers a Pay as you go plan with no monthly fee and paid plans billed monthly or yearly. Every plan needs a payment method on file. Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance of detections, the Pay as you go plan includes a one-time trial allowance, and every plan has a limit on active webhooks and a per-detection rate for detections beyond its allowance. Our plans and prices are listed on our pricing page, and your plan and usage are shown on the Billing page. If we've agreed custom terms with you, those terms apply instead.

A detection counts once against your allowance when it's recorded, whether or not your endpoint accepts the delivery. Retries and replays are free. If a transfer matches more than one of your webhooks, each match is a separate detection.

Only active webhooks count toward your webhook limit. Paused and suspended webhooks don't. If you move to a plan with a lower limit, we suspend the active webhooks over the new limit. You can ask us for extra webhook slots.

6. The Pay as you go plan

The Pay as you go plan has no monthly fee, but it needs a payment method, which we save when you choose the plan. Its trial allowance is listed on our pricing page and is given once per account. It isn't given again when you move to Pay as you go from a paid plan or choose it again later.

After the trial allowance is used, each detection is paid from your usage balance at the plan's per-detection rate, as described under Usage balance and overage.

7. Paid plans and renewal

Paid plans are billed in US dollars at the start of each billing period, monthly or yearly as you choose, and renew automatically until you cancel. Your allowance resets every month, including on yearly plans.

When you choose a plan, you authorize us and our payment provider to charge your saved payment method for each renewal, for prorated upgrade charges, for funds you add to your usage balance, and for automatic additions you turn on.

8. Usage balance and overage

Detections beyond your plan's allowance are paid from your prepaid usage balance at your plan's per-detection rate as they're recorded. You add funds to the balance on the Billing page, and each addition is charged to your payment method when you make it. Overage is on by default, and you can turn it off on the Billing page to stop at your allowance instead.

You can also turn on automatic additions: when your balance falls below the amount you set, we charge your saved payment method for the amount you choose. If the charge fails, we email you. You can change or turn off automatic additions at any time.

When your allowance is used and your balance can't pay for more detections, or overage is off, detection pauses: we suspend your active webhooks and email you. Transfers that happen while detection is paused aren't detected or delivered later. Detection resumes when you add funds, turn overage back on, your allowance resets, or you upgrade.

Your usage balance can only be used to pay for detections on the Service. It doesn't earn interest, can't be transferred or withdrawn, and doesn't expire while your account is open.

9. Payments and taxes

Payments are processed by the third-party payment provider shown at checkout. Some providers act as our reseller and the Merchant of Record for your payment. When they do, they handle the payment, any sales tax or VAT, and refunds, and their own terms also apply to your payment.

Your payment provider collects your payment details directly, and we never see or store your card number.

Prices don't include tax. Any sales tax or VAT that applies is calculated and added at checkout. Invoices for your payments come from the payment provider, and you can find them on the Billing page.

If a plan payment fails, the payment provider retries it. While the payment is past due, your plan's allowance is withheld, so detections are paid from your usage balance. If the payment still doesn't succeed, your plan may be paused or ended, and detection stops until you update your payment method or choose a plan again.

10. Changing or cancelling your plan

Upgrades take effect immediately, with a prorated charge for the rest of the current period. Downgrades, including moving to Pay as you go, take effect at the end of the current period, with no refund or credit for the rest of it.

You can cancel your plan at any time on the Billing page. You keep it until the end of the current period. After that, detection stops and your webhooks are suspended until you choose a plan again. Your usage balance stays on your account.

11. Price changes

We'll email you at least 30 days before we increase the price of your plan or its per-detection rate. If you don't want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.

12. Refunds

Subscription fees, funds added to your usage balance, and detections already paid for aren't refundable, including for partial periods, except where the law requires otherwise. We'll always correct billing mistakes. Our Refund policy has the details.

13. Webhook delivery

  • Endpoints must use HTTPS and be reachable on the public internet.
  • Each delivery is signed with your webhook's secret in the X-Webhook-Signature header, an HMAC-SHA256 of the request body. Verify the signature before you trust a delivery.
  • Deliveries are sent at least once, so the same delivery can arrive more than once. Use the X-Webhook-Id header to skip deliveries you've already processed.
  • If your endpoint doesn't respond with a 2xx status in time, we retry automatically a limited number of times. You can replay a delivery while it's in your delivery log. Delivery logs are deleted after a short retention period, as described in our Privacy policy.

We wait for each network's confirmation depth before we deliver, but blockchains can still reorganize, and networks and node providers can fail or fall behind. We don't guarantee that every transfer will be detected, or delivered within a particular time. Before you act on a high-value transfer, such as crediting a customer, verify it on-chain.

14. Your data and our service

You own the data you add to the Service, such as your webhooks and endpoints. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit it only to provide, secure, and support the Service.

You're responsible for your endpoints, and for having a lawful basis to monitor any address that relates to a person. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

We own the Service, including its software, documentation, and brand. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it. If you send us feedback, we can use it without any obligation to you.

15. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service fast and reliable, but we don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. There's no service level agreement unless we've agreed one with you in writing.

Maintenance, network congestion, and outages at blockchain networks or other providers can delay detections and deliveries.

We may change, add, or remove features, networks, and tokens. If a change significantly reduces the Service, we'll give you reasonable notice.

16. Closing your account

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings → Profile. Deleting your account is permanent. It ends any paid plan immediately, without a refund for the rest of the period, and we charge any overage used so far.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, if the law requires it, or while a payment dispute is open. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first.

If we close your account without cause, or stop offering the Service, we'll refund the fees you paid for the rest of your current billing period.

Sections that by their nature should survive, including those about payments, disclaimers, liability, and indemnity, continue to apply after your account is closed.

17. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and the accuracy or timeliness of blockchain data.

The Service relies on blockchain networks, node providers, payment providers, and other third parties that we don't control. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.

18. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, digital assets, or goodwill. This includes losses from acting on, or not receiving, a detection that was missed, late, duplicated, or reversed by a chain reorganization.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.

19. Indemnity

You'll defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, losses, and costs that arise from your use of the Service, your data or endpoints, or your breach of these terms or the law.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll email you at least 14 days before it takes effect.

If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

21. General

If you have a concern or a dispute, contact us first and we'll try to resolve it with you informally. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

These terms, together with our Privacy policy and Refund policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and if we don't enforce a right, we haven't waived it.

You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our consent, but we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We'll send notices to the email address on your account.

22. Contact
