What to know about TRON

Why 19 confirmations

TRON has 27 Super Representatives producing a block about every 3 seconds. A block is irreversible once 19 of them have built on it, so Chainhook waits 19 blocks, about 57 seconds, before it sends the event.

Addresses are Base58

Payloads use the familiar T… Base58 form, the same one wallets and Tronscan show. If your system stores the hex form (41…), convert it before comparing.

Failed transactions are skipped

A TRC-20 transfer that runs out of energy is still recorded on chain, but it emits no Transfer event and moves no tokens. Chainhook only reports transfers that succeeded.

Expect address-poisoning spam

Scammers send tiny or zero-value transfers from lookalike addresses so they show up in your history. Check the amount and the from address before acting on an event.

Push, not polling

TronGrid and most public TRON APIs are pull-based: you ask for an address's recent TRC-20 transfers and diff the result. That means one request per address per poll, rate limits that grow with your address count, and gaps when a poll fails. Chainhook reads every block once, waits 19 blocks, and pushes only the transfers that touch your addresses.

TRON questions

Can't find your answer? Contact support.

Does TronGrid have webhooks?

TronGrid exposes REST endpoints you poll, not push notifications for an address. Chainhook fills that gap: you register the address once and receive a POST for each confirmed transfer.

Does Chainhook detect native TRX transfers?

Not yet. On TRON, Chainhook detects the TRC-20 tokens listed on this page. Contact us if you need TRX.

Do I need TRX, energy or bandwidth to receive alerts?

No. Watching an address is free on chain. You only need energy or TRX when you move funds out of that address.

How many TRON addresses can I watch?

Each webhook watches one address. Your plan sets how many active webhooks you can have; see pricing.
