Ethereum transfer webhooks

Watch any Ethereum address and get a signed webhook for every confirmed ETH or ERC-20 transfer, without running a node or writing a log indexer.

What to know about Ethereum

12 confirmations, about 2 minutes

Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds. Chainhook waits 12 blocks before it sends an event. Full finality takes about two epochs (roughly 13 minutes); 12 blocks is a common balance between speed and reorg safety.

Native ETH comes from top-level transactions

ETH is detected when a transaction itself carries value. ETH moved inside a contract call, such as a withdrawal from a smart-contract wallet or exchange contract, is an internal transfer and is not reported.

Lowercase addresses in payloads

Wallets often show checksummed, mixed-case addresses. Payloads use lowercase hex, so compare addresses case-insensitively.

Push, not polling

Detecting deposits yourself means running or renting a node, subscribing to new heads, filtering Transfer logs, handling reorgs, and backfilling after downtime. Chainhook does that for every block, waits 12 confirmations, and sends you one event per matching transfer.

Ethereum questions

Can't find your answer? Contact support.

Which Ethereum tokens are detected?

Native ETH and the ERC-20 tokens listed on this page. Other tokens are ignored, even if they share a symbol with a listed one.

Are internal ETH transfers detected?

No. Chainhook reports ETH carried by a transaction, not ETH moved by a contract during execution. ERC-20 transfers are detected either way, because they always emit a Transfer event.

Does it work with Ethereum layer 2s?

Yes. Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet and Polygon have their own pages. Each needs its own webhook, even when the address is the same.
